What an incredible week we had on Ellie's Make-a-wish trip. It
began with a night in Fort Lauderdale and then onto the most amazing ship Allure of the Seas. Ellie's wish was to go on a DreamWorks Cruise. It started off a little rocky when on the second flight to Fort Lauderdale I had a little panic attack when I realized I forgot Ellie's wig. Not sure if I forgot it in the house or in the Limo. It was a long few hours until we arrived in Florida. We began the process of making as many phone calls as possible to track down the wig. Finally I had someone get over to my house and found it in the middle of the kitchen. I guess that is what happens when you leave to travel at 3am. Luckily my sister found a way to arrange the wig to be overnighted to us in Fort Lauderdale. This was a trip for Ellie and we weren’t going to let anything ruin it for her. We met up with my Parents, sister-in-law, and soon to be brother-in-law. And vacation began. So then we got some breakfast on Sunday morning at this cute dinner in Fort Lauderdale. The waitress was hilarious; she was an old Jewish lady who was so funny rude. We had a good time with the lady. We then proceeded to the boat. What amazing site the huge boat was. 225,282 Tons, 1,178 feet in length. We entered the ship and began one of the most amazing vacations. Royal Caribbean did an amazing job trying to give Ellie a great trip. From private meeting with the characters, private bridge tour, to giving us an upgraded room with a balcony over the boardwalk, they made our trip an amazing experience for our family. We enjoyed every possible moment, so much that the kids and us stayed up late and woke up early every morning. Sometimes kids were a little cranky but it really didn’t last very long. Ellie was so comfortable on the cruise that she even went several times without hair, and even a few times without a hat. Make-a-wish did a great job in helping us forget reality. I think we had tons of smiles until we had to fly home. Reality really hit me on the way home. I began contact with the real world. 1500 emails I received over the past week and now trying to get myself caught up. Unfortunately one of the emails was some bad news from another Brain tumor family. It kind of kicked me back into reality really fast. So here goes another week of therapies, Chemo, and hospital visits. Once I get back into my groove I think we will be ok, but for now I have some amazing pictures and videos to remind me of an amazing trip and time we had. I also wanted to mention the Cocktail Party Fundraiser One for the kids. Please click on the link below and register. When you register please make sure you type in that you heard about the event from Ellie's Family. http://oneforthekids.org/cocktail-party/ It sounds like it is going to be amazing. One of the food stations is going to be the Brazilian steakhouse. Appetizers, Entertainment, & Drinks are included. If you are unable to join us there is a way to purchase raffle tickets. Please remember that everything raised goes to Ellie and other children’s Charities. I will be posting more pictures tomorrow so check back later. I will be posting them to the photo Album below. |
